Eng. Dushyantha graduated in 2013 with a BSc degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from University of Peradeniya. He further obtained MSc degree in Telecommunication and Information Engineering from University of Peradeniya in 2020. In his continuous learning curve, he successfully completed Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Post Graduate Institute of Management, University of Sri Jayewardenepura in 2022. He is currently working as a Regional Manager in Sri Lanka Telecom PLC (SLT) with more than 10 years’ experience in telecommunication industry. He is a member of Engineering Council Sri Lanka (ECSL) and Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).

Eng. Dushyantha joined the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL) as a student member in 2012 and became a member of the institution in 2019. He obtained International Professional Engineer status from the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka in 2024. He served as a committee member and assistant secretary of the Sabaragamuwa IESL chapter in 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 sessions respectively. Further he served as a member of the Professional Standard Management Subcommittee, Continuous Professional Development Subcommittee and Education Subcommittee in sessions 2022/2023 and 2023/2024. He is currently serving as a member of IESL council for the session 2023/2024. Eng Dushyantha holding the Chairman positions of the Electrical, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering Sectional Committee and Young Members Section for session 2023/2024. In his dual chairman role, he has driven these two prestigious committees to arrange webinars, seminars, workshops, panel discussions, knowledge sharing sessions, field visits, memorial lectures, research symposiums and industry collaborative programs to improve the engagement of members towards IESL. Furthermore, he has given leadership to arrange talk to school programs, talk to university programs and IESL day programs at universities to aware on engineering education and standards among young engineers and undergraduates. Those comprehensive programs supported to uplift the value of engineering in Sri Lanka.

In his industrial career, he actively contributed to implement the nations’ first ever 4G LTE network and Fiber to the home (FTTH) network to enhance the broadband experience of Sri Lankans while fulfilling government ICT objectives. He has awarded as the best operation manager in region 1 in SLT for year 2017 and the best regional manager in western province region in SLT for year 2020. Eng. Dushyantha has completed industrial research on “Optimal FTTH development strategy for Sri Lanka” for the completion of MSc in Telecommunication Engineering and completed management research on “Reduction of service delivery delay of FTTH product” for the completion of MBA. He further enriched research literature by publishing technical papers on “Hardware efficient optical receiver for coherent digital transmission system”, “Li-Fi – A revolution in the field of wireless communication” and “LI-FI: Illuminating the future of wireless communication in Sri Lanka” in SLEN in 2015, 2016 and 2024 respectively. 

Eng. Dushyantha is a Chartered Manager in The Institute of Chartered Professional Managers (CPM), Sri Lanka. Further, he is a member of Engineer’s Circle Gampaha, IESL Toastmaster Club and Project Management Institute of Sri Lanka.

Election Statement as submitted & certified by the candidate

My experience includes telecommunication and electrical project management, customer, vendor, and supplier management in field of electrical, electronic and telecommunication engineering. I have worked with foreign vendors in China, Malaysia, India, and UK for the implementation and troubleshooting of various projects in this field.

In my 10 years industrial career, I have supervised technical and non-technical subordinates, vendors, and suppliers to accomplish project objectives. I have further arranged various technical training sessions to improve knowledge and soft skills of my subordinate. I’m closely working with government and non-government entities to achieve project objectives. As the current chairman of the electrical, electronics and telecommunication engineering sectional committee and young members section, I have arranged diversified programs to improve the engagement of members towards IESL. I firmly believe these experiences will help me to continue my contribution to engineering fraternity of Sri Lanka as a council member of session 2024/2025.

If elected, I would continue to serve professionally and ethically to the council as I’m currently doing in this session. I will continue to arrange member-oriented programs to improve their knowledge and experience in the engineering field while uplifting their attitudes and engagement towards IESL.
