Eng. M. Mahes Udayanga graduated in 2011 with a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Moratuwa. He obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Building Services Engineering from the same institution in 2021 and became a Chartered Engineer in the field of Building Services Engineering in 2023.
He became an Associate Member of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL) in 2014 and attained full membership in 2023. He is currently serving as the Assistant Secretary of the Building Services Engineering Sectional Committee (BSESC) within the IESL.
He commenced his career in 2012 as a Workshop Engineer at Boehm Leckner Multi Moulds (Pvt) Ltd. In 2013, he joined David Pieris Motor Company (Lanka) Ltd as an Operations Engineer. In 2014, he joined the Sri Lanka Engineering Service (SLES), serving as the District Mechanical Engineer in the Hambanthota district, where he contributed his knowledge and experience in the field of Building Services Engineering. Subsequently, he transferred to the Irrigation Department, where he continues to serve as a Mechanical Engineer.

My experience encompasses production, building services engineering, and design within the fields of mechanical engineering and building services engineering projects in Sri Lanka.
I have actively participated in the Building Services Engineering Sectional Committee since 2015, serving on several subcommittees, including the webinar subcommittee and the school-level CSR subcommittee. Additionally, I served as Assistant Secretary of the Building Services Engineering Sectional Committee for three sessions. I am confident that my broad industry experience and skills will support the institution’s business-like approach.
If elected, I will undertake this role with enthusiasm and dedication, supporting members’ views and concerns in the Council. I am particularly committed to increasing awareness and pride in the profession, especially among graduate and student members.
