Eng. V.Jegananthan graduated in 1997 with a BSc (Honours) degree in Civil Engineering. He was awarded E.O.E Perera award for Structures from University of Peradeniya in 1997. He obtained a Diploma in Commercial Arbitration from in 2019. He is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow Member of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL) from 2024 April. He was being a student member of Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka from 1993 while his undergraduate studies and he obtained the Associate membership of the Institution in 1997 and obtained Corporate membership from 2011.

He Served as the Chairman of IESL Vadakkin Chapter for two consecutive sessions 2020/2021 and 2021/2022. He was the treasurer of the IESL Vadakkin Chapter for the session of 2019/2020. He commenced his career in 1999 as Project Engineer in Road Development Department North East Province and he continued his service in north east provinces until the separation of North East provincial councils in 2007. He continues his services under Northern Provincial Council from 2007 to date. He has around 25 years experiences in Road construction projects, of which 12 years of Post Charter experience with different capacities and Presently as Provincial Director of Road Development Department, Northern Province. His contribution to the society through his service was outstanding and he always actively involved in innovation and research works in the aspect of Civil Engineering.

My experience includes project management, design & construction of highways & bridges and many other aspects in the fields of Civil engineering projects in Sri Lanka. I have also served as a Supervising Civil Engineer for graduates.

I Served as the Chairman of IESL Vadakkin Chapter for two consecutive sessions 2020/2021 and 2021/2022. I was the treasurer of the IESL Vadakkin Chapter for the session of 2019/2020.

I played an active role in the affairs of the IESL Vadakkin Chapter as Chairman and member as well. I have been actively involved in promoting the development of institution members, Engineering society, Construction Industry, University Undergraduates and School Students with the activities through the IESL Vadakkin Chapter. I would continue to bring into the Council, my broad experience gained from the industry and I am confident that I have the skills to support the institution in its business-like approach.

If elected, I would continue to undertake this role with enthusiasm, and would be dedicated to supporting members’ views and concerns in the Council. I am particularly committed to increasing awareness of, and pride of the profession, especially amongst graduate and student members.
