Eng. Sanjeewa Kariyawasam is Project Manager (Transmission Projects – Ceylon Electricity Board) and he has a 14-year experience in High voltage projects. He started his career in Ceylon Electricity Board as project electrical engineer for transmission projects in year 2010. He completed his first 132/33 kV grid substation in Maho, Anuradhapura in year 2010 and contributed to many grid substation augmentations which are facilitated to expand the National Transmission Network.
In year 2016 he appointed as electrical project engineer of GREEN POWER DEVELOPMENT AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT – TRANCH II and got opportunity to contribute to most important transmission expansion packages of 150 km Polpitiy-Hambantota 220 kV Transmission line and 500 MVA 220/132 kV Hambantota Grid Substation to amplify the reliability of power supply and augment the power transfer capabilities both to and from the Southern region. Presently he serves as Project Manager of key transmission reliability improvement packages of national transmission network.
Eng. Sanjeewa Kariyawasam commenced his career as an Engineer with Lanka Bell Ltd., in 2008 and served there till 2010 carrying out installation and Commissioning of Microwave Radio Links to provide voice and data solutions for corporate customers all over the country.
Eng. Sanjeewa Kariyawasam graduated with a BSc (First Class Honours) degree in Electrical & Information Engineering from the University of Ruhuna in 2008.
He joined the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL) in 2012 and was elected a Member of the Institution in 2019. Eng. Sanjeewa Kariyawasam represented Ruhuna Chapter cricket team in IESL Cricket Fiesta – 2017.
He served as a member of JIY Steering Committee for council session 2010/2011.
He has been actively involved with Ceylon Electricity Board Engineers’ Union from year 2010 serving as Treasurer, Area Representative and Editor for many sessions.
